We know it’s challenging to purchase a GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics card. Today we’re introducing Verified Priority Access for the GeForce RTX 50 Series. It will give a limited number of verified GeForce gamers & creators in the United States the opportunity to purchase one GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics card from the NVIDIA Marketplace.

Users who have an NVIDIA Account created on or before January 30th, 2025 at 6AM Pacific Time can submit their interest for Verified Priority Access through this form.

If selected, users will be notified at the email address of the NVIDIA account they enrolled with. Invites will begin rolling out next week.

At this time, Verified Priority Access is limited to GeForce users in the United States, and to GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics cards.
 
Wonder what that acceptance rate will be at. Not that it will stop people from flipping the FE card for a 60% profit
 
I signed up as well, but I didn't know it was for FE cards only.
 
Good thing im ethical...but boy howdy do these supply issues make me want to ask for favors (which i would absolutely never do)
 
It's like this every time there's a new GPU release. I don't see this trend ever stopping. I signed up and had several friends sign up for me with their NVIDIA accounts, so hopefully I can snag one.
 
This certainly can help get the cards in the hands of people who actually want one, but I bet 90% of people who signed up plan on flipping them.

Yeah it's a little irritating seeing how many are on eBay. Greed at its finest.

I was thinking something along the lines of jlbenedict - it's wild that we still have PC gaming snobs at the same time there are GPUs that cost several hundred dollars and now have "priority access" to make sure you can actually buy one at MSRP.

PC gaming is great when everything aligns, to be clear. But I finally got back to my Switch this week (early parenthood made it impractical) and it reminded me of how good console gaming can be. It was wonderful to hop on the couch and play some top-tier games with minimal fuss. (Side note: people are still playing Splatoon 2, and it's still fun.)

My concern is that NVIDIA is unintentionally creating a window not just for AMD, but for consoles. Nintendo could launch the Switch 2 at $399 and scoop up that cross-section of people who are nominally PC gamers but don't relish spending a fortune on upgrades to stay current.

Ive sort of been saying this in all these price discussions. 500 bucks and you're ready to play is an attractive prospect given the current pc market.

Except when the PS5 came out, it took me nearly two years to get one because of scalping. This issue isn't just isolated to the PC.

It was super annoying. I even followed those drop notice accounts on Twitter that let you know when there was going to be stock at certain websites like Amazon, Best Buy, etc. I'd add it to my cart, and put everything in, and by the time I clicked the button to purchase, it'd say "sold out." Nintendo says they won't have this issue with the Switch 2, but I think they're grossly underestimating the scalpers.

Oh, consoles aren’t immune, and I suspect the Switch 2 frenzy will be spectacular. But the issue doesn’t seem to be as bad as it is with GPUs. And the pandemic certainly didn’t help the PS5’s launch situation.

(I somehow scored a PS5 at launch, so I tuned out to a degree after that.)
