So I've been looking all over the place for some good 3D reviews of the Ion 2, and I've found very little, only new games that I don't have interest in.

I found YouTube videos of Counter-Strike: Source being played on one, but that doesn't tell me anything.

What I want to know is...

The graphics settings, resolution, and framerate used in Counter-Strike: Source, with an nVidia Ion 2, paired with an Atom 1.6ghz Dual Core, with at least 2gb RAM....

Maybe someone has this kind of setup...

I'm looking into either an Asus 1201N (Ion 1 + Atom 330 1.6ghz Dual Core) or a Zotac ZBOX (Ion 2 and a 1.66ghz Atom D510).

I don't really need a laptop, but the Asus 12 series are pretty awesome in my books, I'd like to wait for the 1215 model though, as their Ion 2 solution is only a single core CPU, which is a hugely stupid mistake.

I had the 1201N for about a week. I liked having the ability to overclock the CPU and GPU but the Atom N330 was still underpowered even when overclocked. I sent it back and purchased an Acer AS1551-5448 with an AMD 1.5GHz k625 processor and ATI 4225 graphics. The ION graphics of the 1201N were a little better, but the 4225 was sufficient for my uses since I don't game on it.
The K325 and K625 processors are much better than the dual core Atom's even when overclocked. Battery life is much better with the Acer since the N330 is unable to throttle down when in power saving mode. I don't know if the new D series Atom processors are the same or not but I wouldn't recommend the 1201N when the dual core 1215N can be had for the same price.
If you're gonna go with a desktop why limit the capabilities by going with a nettop?

Size. Price.

My bad habbits of upgrading.

I like how it can mount onto the back of an LCD monitor, keeps everything neat and tidy, I'm sick of wires...

I've been looking for a decent laptop around the $400-$500 range in Canada that is able to play Counter-Strike: Source at least.

I've not been able to find a 1215N, but that looks awesome, and it's what I truly want.

I just want to play CSS and browse the web without dodgy flash animations slowing me down. Also HD streaming from Vimeo would be nice.

Good luck, flash slows down my i7 920.

I was looking at getting an atom based HTPC, and it appears newer versions of flash, sliverlight, etc. are getting somewhat decent at allowing GPU acceleration of H264 video, but it's still hit or miss. Without hardware acceleration you can't effectively stream with an atom.

Well as current... my Inspiron 8600.. 1.4ghz Penium-M, 1gb RAM, Geforce Go4200... I can't even go to the HardOCP front page without frustration of flash lag.

Use an anti-flash plugin/extension.

Flash needs mostly CPU power to run smoothly.

That doesn't solve my issues with not being able to watch Youtube or Vimeo in fullscreen.

I bought the Zotac ZBOX, and 2gb RAM for it, I had the chance to try out a similar slower system, and was plenty happy with the performance.

Now... to overclock it for that little extra power!

I have the EEE 1005 model with a broadcom HD decoder is plays 720p flash flawlessly. 1080p was dropping a few frames when I tested it but that was still using 10.1 beta flash. I haven't retested with the latest version.

So I got the ZBOX and it's pretty awesome.

Can play Counter-Strike Source at 1280x720 all high details :)

Quake Live is working great as well.

Serious Sam Second Encounter doesn't run too well though... odd for an 8 year old game.

Can you tell me the specs of your ZBOX ?
I'm thinking in buying one... or the Asus 1215N instead.. dunno what is better.
thanks
