Nvidia IDE Drivers = BAD

I just did a little testing on my system right now and found that the nv ide driver is not up to snuff compared to the xp driver.

The reason I switched to the xp driver was because my system used to hang on boot for about 1 min certain random times. I read that it might be the nvidia driver, so i switch. I wasn't really paying attention to that, but I noticed that whenever I did a large file filetransfer between two drives which aren't primary my system would go at snail pace. I thought this might be a problem with either only have 512ram (DC) till my 2gb come in, or the microsoft drivers. I tested the only one I could.

So I install the nv ide drivers again and like that, on boot my system hangs. I tried the large filetransfer to see if maybe they were better for in os (which is what really matters to me). And they begin lagging even worse than the xp drivers..

So conclusion: I need more ram, and nv ide drivers are terrible.

Edit: Running xp64, but the hang problem happened with nv driver on 32bit too, so bits don't matter i think.
 
It's generally accepted that you should never install the nVidia IDE drivers, they don't seem to do very much but cause headaches for everybody. I'm not sure if they even know about all the issues that turn an otherwise decent driver suite into something so scary.
