NVIDIA/Havok GPU physics videos

looks like theres a small explosion (without fire) in the first clip which makes all the bones fly... and that doesnt make sense to me at all

Thought the way the bones explode looks really nice, to me the way that cannon ball(???) was just fired to the middle would not produce a blast pattern like that, thus taking me out of immersion of the game and defeating the end purpose of a ppu. They just need to setup the rigid body system better.

It is just a demonstration, this isn't a game. I saw this live at NV editors day. The demo itself is quite impressive graphically speaking, a lot of shaders going on here. The fact that it can do all of that plus physics is pretty impressive.

It may look good graphically, but I don't know what kind of physics they are calculating because they are not of this earth.

i am sure if they wanted to they could easily make the physics more realistic but because they wanted something flashy and over the top that is exactly what they did. Ageia's video's are the same way they are flashy and over the top. Real world physics don't stick out so it wouldn't show off the card

i wonder if thare going to put this on gfx card or seprate card, or do both, and if this will become mainstream

I noticed the same thing! The blast pattern is all wrong, and shortly after the blast about 1/4 of the chunks of brick just dissapear....... The bouncing of the ball off the brick is also strange to me. If this is the best they got at the moment, ageia would be my first choice.

My thoughts exactly.

the nvidia phisics, even though new, look poor compared to havok's demo. Good thing their in the hardware business. =-)

The Havokdemo using the beads of water in the pool is AMAZING
