I think they are headed in the right direction (at least for the company in general), but also taking a significant risk, only time will tell if it pays off...
QFT. AMD took a big risk with its line of GPUs when it stopped worrying about getting the biggest baddest chip out and instead focused on getting a scalable chip out, and that calculated risk paid off huge for them.
I don't know if the same will hold true for nVidia, but if this card comes out to be as a big success maybe we'll be reading a behind the scenes article on nVidia's change of philosophy up on Anandtech in a year.
Either way, I like to see big companies like this take big risks, because when they succeed we're usually all better for it.
