Was cleaning out my mom's garage, and found my old customized IBM Aptiva PC. Specs:

150W Enhance PSU
P3 1.0GHz (originally 500MHz Celeron) w/ Masscool 80MM heatsink w/ AS5 applied.
Intel 810 chipset mobo w/ 3 PCI slots
512MB (256x2) PC2100 by Infineon
Linksys 10/100 Ethernet PCI
40GB 7200RPM 2MB Cache Seagate HD

No video card.

I'm planning to put an Apollo GeForce FX5700LE PCI video card in that IBM, but first I want your guys' opinion. Will it work, and if it works, will it be hurt badly? Do I need a better PSU? Tell me anything. I want to be able to play Half-Life 2 on it. Call me crazy.
 
No not at all that card well work good with those specs. But you still won't get any good gaming with it.

I'm sorry to say this to you, but your system does not meet even the minimum system requirements for Half Life 2, even with an upgraded video card. That game requires at least a 1.2GHz CPU (2.4GHz or faster recommended). HL2 may not run at all on your system.
 
Relax, E4g1e, the IBM is not my primary system, I've got this beast right now. It won't hurt to try and upgrade it for fun, and prove people wrong. HL2 won't run on anything below 733MHz, but I know a 1GHz or above P3+ can run HL2 anyhow. It's common sense. It would take time, but with a good memory and video card, you should be fine.
 
That's AGP. My P3 mobo doesn't have AGP. It's gotta be a PCI card, thanks though.
 
I'm surprised that power supply even provides enough juice
for the setup as it is. :eek:

You'd be much better off finding a mobo with AGP & getting an AGP card. Check the forsale forums here.
