Probably ducted design to draw cool air in from outside. The EVGA fan orientation looks like they fans draw air away from the card.
Yeah, the heatsinks duct/feed from/into the case. (you can see the fins)Probably ducted design to draw cool air in from outside.
At 1920x1200 you might as well just get the 1070. You will almost never get the full benefit of the 1080 at that res with your cpu. In Crysis 3 you will see zero improvement with a 1080 over a 1070 in the cpu limited areas. Is there a release date for the Asus Strix version? I feel like it's time to upgrade from my reference 780 vanilla.

From the review page:
Do you think Nvidia will only support build 10586 and up for Pascal cards or is this just for the review drivers?
Edit: I'm asking because I'm on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB N which I got through my MSDN sub and it's based on build 10240. I have no plans to upgrade to a new/consumer build release of Windows 10.
This is just for the reviews, nVidia lists the 1080 as certified for Windows 7-10, Linux and FreeBSDx86 GeForce GTX 1080 Graphics Card. But the latest version of 10 will be majority of the customer base for these so that's where they've probably done most of the work thus far why they wanted the reviews to stick to Windows 10 1511.
I can say with 10000% certainty that the NVIDIA 1080 GPu will not work on Windows 10 LTSB (build 10240) with or without driver signature mode being on or off. This is just for the reviews, nVidia lists the 1080 as certified for Windows 7-10, Linux and FreeBSDx86 GeForce GTX 1080 Graphics Card. Yeah, whats the best solution in your opinion fresh install?Sounds like the school chose the wrong version of Windows. LTSB tends to be for more specialized systems, ones that don't change configuration-wise once deployed.
Sucks, either way.
You could check to see if an updated LTSB is available and do an in place upgrade. There are updates that come out, but it appears it is not frequent and usually requires installing the updated OS over the existing (instead of just downloading updates). That could be one option.Yeah, whats the best solution in your opinion fresh install?
The GP104 die in case anyone is interested.
Bigger version in 4416*3752.

How noisy is 1080 FE? I'm starting to think about trading/selling my 1080 Xtreme, because I would like to be able to use it in a secondary mini-itx PC (Node 202 case) when i need to, but not sure if FE is worth the hassle.
