Anyone use this for their updates or should I do them manually?
I have Asus Strix. I usually like to wait and see how new drivers
do before I install them.

Does this auto install service delete old drivers or do I need to
wipe them manually?

NGE is a separate update from the driver. It is basically game profiles, sli profiles and led control, etc. So you will need to check each one if you do it manually. I also tick the box by check for beta also when searching.

it will tell you if there are updates, nothing more. you can have it automatically download new drivers as they're released, but it won't install them. i don't exactly know what you mean by delete old drivers, but doing manual driver wipes hasn't been necessary for quite a while.

When I use to run AMD it was always advised to uninstall old drivers when
acquiring new ones.

You check the custom box on the install. Then choose Perform Clean install and it will wipe out all old drivers and install everything new for you.

it doesn't delete or remove anything. all it does is reset any changes you've made to the settings available in the nvidia control panel.

Tell it to Nvidia then.

If you have experienced install problems in the past, we offer "Perform clean install" which will remove all previous NVIDIA drivers and NVIDIA registry entries from your computer. This may resolve installer issues caused by conflicting older drivers.

AMD or nvidia....I always do the same thing.....

Uninstall from the control panel in windows, then run DDU, then install the new set.

After my last 3 driver updates (344.16 and newer) I notice at the beginning of the driver install, It says uninstalling previous drivers for a few seconds. I used to do a fresh install of windows going from an nvidia and amd card or vice versa. After the 4 weeks with GTX 980 article kyle made it obvious a simple control panel uninstall is enough even switching camps

Given the speed, efficiency and through-ness of DDU I would also strongly recommend it's use in addition to the usual uninstall from the windows control panel.

I generally see a lot more issues with updates on the AMD side of things, as opposed to the NVidia side; for quite some time now.

I had all sorts of problems with AMDs 14.9 drivers, but after I ran DDU things were fine. I would absolutely run DDU if swapping out from NVidia to AMD or vice-versa.
