I have the above card and was wondering what would be a good replacement? I can not get a new Mobo yet so will have to rely on a card similar or lower in power consumption, heat and/or better graphics to the Geforce 9800 GX2.

Thanks.

how much u willing to spend? That's still a fine card for most games especially on a 22 inch monitor.

Honestly, just wait for now. The 9800 GX2 is still a very powerful card, and can run most games at very high res/settings. Is there a specific game you're upgrading for? I know a lot of new games are coming out this fall, so just hold off until then. Prices may change and/or current cards will drop in price.

Honestly I was going to send this card to my brother since he has a similar set up and a Geforce 9800GX2 but just recently I started getting a flashing green on my screen unless I play my games in a windowed mode.

Who made your card? BFG? XFX? Another buddy of mine had a 9800GX2 (made by BGF) that started crapping out with weird glitches that were clearly the GPU's fault. It was years after he had bought it and the receipt was long gone. But BFG has a lifetime warranty on the 9800GX2, so he called them up and they sent him a 285 GTX and told him to ship back the bad GPU, all at no extra cost. It never hurts to try and at least call them to see what they can do for you.

I had the same vidcard & you could use it as a heater for your room lol. I ended up taking it apart to clean it & apply some MX2 thermal paste to replace the old stuff that was on there. It helped out, but I retired it when I got my 285. Overall a good card & could burn your fingertips off.

Definitely, they're hot as hell. Winters were never cold when we all got together to play some LAN games. Just one of them would heat a room, now imagine 3 of them working together.
