Has anyone been experiencing game crashes using this video card? I would be in the middle of DOW1,DOW2,Dragon Age and my game would just freeze. It also happens on my brother's pc with a few games and WoW. He's using Vista also with a Geforce 9800 GX2 and I'm on Windows 7 64bit.

Those cards usually get pretty hot, don't they?

How's your case and video card temps? And ventilation/cooling setup?

9800gx2 is at least 2 years old.....I'm going to say there is a lot of lint trapped in between the aluminum fins under the shroud. Remove the shroud and you'll see what i mean. The dust in there is actually acting as a HEAT INSULATOR. Even canned air wont help you you need to remove the shroud and manually yank that gunk out of there.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I usually keep my case open and have been thinking about just taking my rig apart and doing a good cleaning job. I have often wondered about taking apart the cards as well minishotglass lol. I'm a NYC doorman and since we may be going on strike this week I should have plenty of time on my hands to do so lol

A damp cloth to the fans and compressed air through the heat sink fins can do wonders for your card.

A friend of mine had a 9800 GX2 as well (from BFG). His started doing the same thing as yours a couple of months ago, so he called up BFG and got it replaced (for free of course, lifetime warranty). They sent him a 280 GTX o_O

I think the lesson here is that "sandwich" cards (cards with 2 GPU's in one card) are not that great.

I still think removing the dust under the shroud has the least amount of down time. Even if they do advance RMA (cross shipping) you're still w/out a card for a couple days at least...plus you have to pay return shipping to their RMA facility....
