Hi all, so I was hoping to get some help from those who maybe are more familiar with nvidia gamestream / moonlight than me.

I have an HTPC that has a 2080ti in it, and hooked to my 4K TV in my living room. I also have a office PC that has a rx 580 8gb, 6700k, 16GB ram. it is hooked to a 35" ultra wide monitor 38XXx1440 res i believe.

I want to play games like battlefield V and tombraider single player upstairs in my office, but I want the graphic settings of the 2080ti machine. I want to play them in ultra wide res.

I have both machines hooked to my router with cat 7 cables. I figure this would easily give me the 150mbs max that moonlight shows.

I set moonlight to the ultrawide res @ 120hz. I then use moonlight to launch battlefield V. When battlefield V launches it only shows 16:9 res options available no ultra wide resolutions, and it also limits me to a max of 59.9hz, no options for 120 or more. Also the game looks like doo doo. like theres banding in shadows and the resolution and detail just look way off.

I was under the impression that gamestream could make the games look exactly like they would if you were playing on the 2080ti machine, and the only difference might be some input lag. is this not true? is it possible i am doing something wrong, or am i asking too much to change the resolution to ultrawide? Could i be having issues because my HTPC is 16:9, and i am trying to game on the other PC in ultrawide non 16:9 resolutions?

This is just an assumption since I have never used moonlight, but I'm guessing it is because your HTPC is not hooked to a screen that supports the aspect ratio of the monitor you are attempting to stream to.

There is a program called CRU or custom resolution utility that should allow you to add the resolution you are looking for.

I was able to stream at 120fps at 1080p. I do not use Moonlight's game selection but rather use Explorer.exe. I also tried 1680x1050@60hz. I didn't notice much of a performance difference on wireless 802.11ac or ethernet whereas I used to on older Moonlight versions.

The game is probably only giving you resolutions based on the display connected to the host machine. You may have to create a custom resolution on the host machine to be able to select it in Battlefield. You have a couple options:
  1. Create a custom resolution in the NVIDIA control panel
  2. Use command line arguments in Origin for Battlefield V
    1. -Window.Width 3440 -Window.Height 1440 -RenderDevice.VSyncEnable 0 -GameTime.MaxVariableFps 120
