The video card that I got for my new build has turned out to be a terrific deal. I'ts a Nvidia NVS280 Quadro. Only 64 megs, lousy 3D performance, but I'm not gaming with it. It's a great 2D card, comparable to the Matrox P650 it replaced, and (supposedly) supports up to 4 monitors. Snagged this PCIe card for $40 on Ebay.
My only slight quibble is when I rotate the screen (Viewsonic 201S, UXGA) to portrait mode. I found a noticeable jerkiness when rotating with Pivot Pro. A little googling found that this is a problem with Nvidia Force drivers and Pivot Pro. So I'm using the native screen rotation from Nvidia's tools. Works much better, but there is still a very slight jerkiness when rotated... only noticeable because the P650 (AGP) was so very smooth using Pivot Pro. It really doesn't bother me at all, but...
Is this the limitation of the card? Are there any tweaks that might improve the performance a bit? Otherwise the display is great
