Which drivers are you guys using for best PPD?

Oh yeah, I'm running a couple of GTX275s on windows 7.
 
Some people might think I'm a little conservative, but I'm still using v177.89. :D

Weren't new drivers released recently?
 
Yeah, there are new ones. I just was wondering if anyone had a better PPD output with a certain version. :)

To be honest, I know nothing about the new drivers or versions released after winter. I'm aware that drivers over the 180s see a drop in performance, which is why I'm still using 170s. I do not know if the performance has picked up with newer releases in the last 6 months, though. Hope someone who has more info can post about it because I'd like to see a performance boost with all the nVidia hardware I have running.
 
I think, and this was just my personal experience, the 178.24 was the best driver. Right now I'm using the 190.62 since the 178.24 isn't available for Win7. Numbers seem almost comparable (from what I remember), but also the WU have changed, so I really don't have any direct comparison.

I have the v178.24 drives on one of my four nVidia GPU systems. All the others are using v177.89 and I see absolutely no difference with any WUs between the two driver sets. All my nVidia cards are 8800GTs and the OCs are the same except for one system that has two dual-slot cards which could run higher frequencies.

I tried the v178.24 drives on only one system as a test bed but since it proved so close in performance as to be indistinguishable, I didn't bother installing this driver on my other systems. I don't know if they make a difference with newer architectures. I'm more interested in seeing if the v190s show a significant benefit. I'll update if they do.
 
i believe with the newest nvidia drivers in windows 7 you no longer have to run 2 gpu clients.. since cuda is now scale-able across 2 or more GPU's.. so you can leave the cards in SLI.. there is little to no difference in PPD with the drivers though from one version to the other..
 
^^ Can someone confirm that? That would be awesome to leave it in SLI and still fold, then I'd need not bother with switching back and forth and mem usage would also be down 50megs or so

i remember there being a post about it in this section.. refering to the 190.39 drivers i think.. ill find it again..
 
that would be awesome! Finally, I can game in SLI (cuz I never remember to turn it back on lol)
 
I'd try running with the cards in SLI but if I try to turn SLI mode on i get a BSOD and have to uninstall the driver in safe mode to get back to working again.

im turning in for the day, I'll check back in later tonight or tomorrow and might just use my rig as a test bed, gotta change it up today anyways

I'm pretty sure you still have to run two GPU clients. The only difference is that CUDA can now access individual GPUs when running an SLI setup, so you don't have to disable SLI to fold on both cards.
 
Yes, I'm running two GTX 295s in SLI with the 190.xx drivers. You need to run four F@H GPU clients, or in my case, one instance of BOINC. :D
 
so you can leave it in SLI? what about bastard configs, like 3 cards but only 2 are in SLI, third is Physx? (All 3 are 260's I just dont have a tri-sli board)
 
hmm... might have to swap around my boards and re-order my garden
