I know nothing about the rendering pathways used in Doom 3, but I got my 6800gt a day after I got Doom 3(played w/my 9800pro) and I wanted to know if there is a better pathway to use than the one I am using. I know I could probably test them all out, but could someone save my the trouble and let me know which one to use. I believe the command is "r_renderer" and it is currently set on "best"....Could I change this to something better.

Nope, just make sure you have vsync disabled and you are using "Quality" mode from the Nvidia control panel with your selected levelof AF via the NV control panel and Trilinear/AF opts enabled. Use High Quality mode in the game. This will give you best performance.

i personally don't think vsync has any effect, but your card does puts more out when it's disabled

if the game is playing fast enough over your monitor refresh rate vsync has little use. What frames are ya getting anyhow?

Vsync was a must for me. D3 had major tearing issues.

As stated in other threads, its possible to offset the tearing by changing refresh rates. i.e.running 1600x1200 @ 100hz with no vsync I get no noticable tearing.
