Does anyone have any experience or comparing which these two GPGPU technologies? I plan on getting a GTX580 or Radeon 6970 when they come out. I expect both of the cards to be +/- 10% of each other in terms of raw performance. But what makes the choice harder for me is figuring out which one would be better for GPGPU task. I do a fair amount of work using Photoshop, no 3d modeling or anything like that. CS5 supports both Nvidia and AMD's video cards for rendering some things, so maybe I'd be fine either way.
I'm currently leaning towards Nvidia because Cuda seems to have more adoption, but maybe thats because Nvidia has made a better marketing push. Another bonus with Nvidia is Physx (doesn't seem to be in a ton of games though) and their 3d offerings; I don't see myself using 3d anytime soon, but it might be nice to have to option just incase. But on the otherhand, AMD seems to have the upperhand with their eyefinity/multi-monitor display technology because pretty much all of their cards now support atleast 3 monitors (I plan on running three 24' monitors) on one card wheras with Nividia's offerings, you need to SLI.
Does anyone have any opinions on the matter?
