Nvidia cards cant do AA/AF in cs:source?

im tired of messin with these 6800's.
2 bfg 6800 oc's and now my new pny 6800 cant run cs source with aa or af on.
it will just stutter and while looking at certain spots the fps' will drop below ten and my ping would spike to the mid 100's.
not to mention all the stutterin and spikes.

this even made me trade my original 3500/neo plat combo since i thought the cpu and mb was a dud.
turns out its been these 6800 cards all along.
i can play the game fine with all settings on medium and no aa/af, but seriously now.

i even put a 9800 pro in my other machine and at least its holding the frames better than these 6800's.
are there any patches or something to fix this prob?

aa and af work fine on the 6800 series. dont blame the hardware for a problem between the chair and the keyboard.
 
well i honestly dont know what to tell you.
the only system it didnt happen on is my older xp rig.

i can go down the list for you.

3500 winnie/neo plat
3400 claw/dfi s754
3000 claw/chaintech nf3
and my latest rig which is a
3400 nc/dfi s754

stresstest shows 133 fps, but actual online play stutters and blows
 
google & run "driver cleaner"...and reinstall your drivers...

Any 6800 should be noticeably faster than a 9800 in HL2...
 
Yup, something is wrong that is obviously affected by online play, check your overclock? Some sub system is screwed up somewhere. My 6800GT plays it perfectly fine with the 71.89's
 
can anybody tell me the proper order of drivers on a fresh install?
i do direct x, chipset drivers, update windows and then video card.

if this is wrong please tell me

Actually, that is the "wrong" way of doing it. Updating Windows to a newer service pack may replace your third-party chipset drivers with an older Microsoft-written version that does not fully support your mobo, corrupting your Windows installation.

The best way to update Windows to the latest service pack (Service Pack 2 for Windows XP) is to download the full, "for IT Professionals and Developers" version of the Service Pack 2 update, and then burn it onto CD-R. Then, when you reinstall Windows XP, you don't have to re-download the service pack.

After that's taken care of, my recommended install order is:

Windows XP
Service Pack 2 (unless already slipstreamed onto your Windows XP setup disk)
Chipset drivers
Network and/or modem drivers (unless already detected/installed by Windows)
Critical (and recommended) updates for Windows
Video drivers
All other drivers
Software programs (including games)

You don't need to download DirectX at this time, since Service Pack 2 already includes the latest released version of DirectX, 9.0c.
