just doing some linx tests and using cpuid for the info.

under temperatures i get tmpin0,tmpin1, so i am assuming at least one of these is chipset temp?

im also wondering if anyone knows the max temp for the nvidia 980a chipset. i just want to make sure im not stressing the chipset.
 
what are the temps you are seeing for those 2 sensors and are they changing when under load..


also the 980a while nvidia claims is a new chipset is really just a 780a.. so look up the numbers for those boards and they should be pretty similar for the 980a..

since its an AMD board there really is no way to over stress a chipset unless your overclocking the hypertransport..
 
well im trying to get a baseline so that when i upgrade to my 955 soon i have a starting point when i oc it.right now im just running an x2 6400 at stock, but its still a 125w cpu, so im assuming temps shouldnt differ all that much with a 955 at stock.

ambient is about 22c

using hardware monitor cpuid 114 for monitoring.

cpu cores 26,27c

tempino 32c
tempin1 28c

using linx063, settings were:

prob size 1470, 1522 mib

ran test for 4 hrs, no errors.

cpu cores max temp both 44c

tempin0 45c

tempin1 43c

just wondering how these temps are, and if anyone knows what exactly the tempin0/tempin1 is monitoring.
 
looks like tempin1 is cpu and tempin0 is chipset.. but that makes no sense.. chipset shouldnt be getting hotter then the cpu..

try using everest and see what it says it gives a name for all the sensors.. system, cpu, chipset, etc., etc.
 
thanks for that. yea i just tried everest 502 and apparently tempin0 is the cpu, tempin1 is the mb. so those temps make sense. the hardwaremonitor cpuid doesnt have an mcp sensor monitor so i wasnt even getting that temp. btw i ran a 30 min linx session and my temps were

cpu 44
mb 27

core1 41
core2 40

mcp 66

so sounds about right.

running both monitoring software seems to cause some glitches in reporting with cpuid so i just turned it off, but the numbers were almost identical. i could probly lower my msp by adding that stupid fan they include with hte asus boards but it looks like crap, and my temps are still within norm as far as my little googling found out. if anyone has similar setups or comments about the temps please let me know. thanks.
