nvidia 9600gt

youll see about 1.5 - 2x the performance but i suggest spending a bit more and getting the 460 that will triple your performance gains

sup guys..

is it worth it to upgrade from an nvidia 9600gt to a gts 450 ?

?

thank you.

See for yourself if it's worth it. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Axle/GeForce_GTS_450_OC/28.html Basically you go from 63 to 98 = 55.6% improvement, comparing stock vs. stock speeds.

And that guy who said triple performance needs to check his numbers. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Axle/GeForce_GTX_460_768_MB/31.html Even if you look at the 1GB version that's 108 vs. 56, hardly a tripling. I do agree with his conclusion, though, that it's a good deal at $150AR for the 768MB version right now, assuming the HD6xxx doesn't crush it.

so....screw the 450 and get a 460? thats the conclusion?

If you have the cash, deffinitely. Also, look out for deals on the GTX460 in the deals section.

First, what are the rest of the specs of your machine? It would be a godo thing for us to figure out of you will have a CPU or RAM bottleneck first.

Asus Rampage Formula X48
E8400 @ 3.6 ghz
4 GB of Memory
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

the thing is...i dont really game thaaaaaaat much...only game i really play is Counter Strike Source, i do try new releases but quit due to "lack of easyness and instand action"....i know css isnt demanding, but i want to hook up a 32 inch tv to my pc and use it as a monitor...

Unless you feel like spending money, I'm sure the 9600GT will play CS:S maxed out. Are you going to be playing at 720p or 1080p? Either way, it should have no problems playing either game.

1080p

so the 9600GT is just fine for movies and everything? and say i would like to try out some of the newer releases?

Movies, as in DVD movies? yes.

As for new game releases, no. You'd deffinitely need a newer card if you wanted to play new games like BFBC2.

so thats my question... would the 450 suffice or would you definately say the hell with 450 grab a 460gtx ?

i see here, that the the price seems just fine for this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130562

spend the extra 30 bucks. hell you can get it 150 just not EVGA. the 450 is looking like like something of a lame duck right now at the price point, everything kills it, the 5770 is better so it kills it from that angle, the 460 768 is much faster for only a little more so it kills it from that angle, in other words the 450 just isn't a good deal any way your look at it. not bad maybe but a zotec 460 768 can be had for a 150 right now (after the rebate). The EVGA will have a better warranty though and customer service

but i live in the caribbean so warrenty wouldnt mean anything to me...

Yep, the 460 is worth the extra $30 imho.I think you will not only be happy now for longer down the road also.

I think its simply a 3 year warranty intead, or the like. just call and ask. but in that case I would save the money and go with the zotec
