Nvidia 8800 GTX overclocking help

Hi guys i bought a 8800 GTX aquatank card about a year and half ago and after few problems with the water cooler and then GPU they replaced it with a reg 8800 GTX so I see the stock clock speed is 575Mhz and my aquatank had a Asus overclock from factory to 630Mhz. I guess I was thinking of trying out overclocking although not sure if i should try because I read that the GTX can't go much above 630Mhz without locking up etc so I figured I would ask on here if it is hard to do and if it is worth it etc. I guess I just always read about people overclocking this and that so thought maybe I would try it out but not even sure If i should use ATI tool or what is best way etc?

I've had mine up to 648 on stock cooling with no probs for over a year. Of course I did run the fans on it at 100% all the time. Would run around 65-70c on load during Crysis.

Recently I added a second one and had to downclock to 612 to keep things controlled temp wise within the case.

Just use rivatuner and take it slow. Use Ati tool to test.
 
Riva tuner works great..also I hear the the EVGA precision tool is about the same, but its supposed to be more user friendly. I cant really say as I have never used it as I am used to Riva tuner, so I didn't feel the need to switch.

So yeah, either one will work..:p
 
Thanks guys I will try that program, but is there a way to see if your video card is overclocked already from factory? the guy told me they sent me a 8800 gtx TOP and said its overclocked but i checked on ATI tool and it shows the core at 575Mhz the stock speed so i'm guessing it isnt overclocked.
I tried a couple of those test but seemed at 612 is eventually crashed to blue screen but I hear people talking 630 no problems etc so not sure what could be the problem with mine?

On rivatuner, before you attempt to OC it, it will detect settings and current clock speeds. Also, if you download Nvidia system monitor. (think you have to have a Nforce Motherboard for it to work though.)
