Nvidia 7800 GT and GTX same or diff?

is the nvidia 7800 GT and the 7800 GTX the same thing and if not what's the difference really?

like for the 6800 series, they had the ultra/gt/classic(?) ranging from hardcore enthusiast to enthusiast?
 
GTX = 24 pipes, GT = 20 pipes
That and the GT has reduced core/ram speed compared to the GTX I think...
But both would classify as "high-end"...

The chant is the 7800gt is going to cost $399 when it comes out , but I noticed that the 6800Ultra is just now getting down to that price , so , WTF ?
 
Is the GT using the same core GTX?

If so we could be in for some fun with RivaTuner.
 
Like Terra said. Clock speeds are varying wildly and is not conclusive. I've heard anything from 335 MHz core to 420 MHz core and 1000 MHz memory to 1200 MHz memory. It's anybody's guess right now...hurry up nVidia and release your puppy! :D
