Nvidia 6x00 hardware acceleration fixed?

ok so does this fix, it in all 6x00 hardware.... or is it still broken in the 6800 agp parts ?

I know the 6600/6200 agp and all 6x00 native pcie parts were supposed to have working hardware in them, and there were some problems with software.

But supposedly the 6800 agp parts had a hardware bug that needed some fix....

SO what hardware/exact problem is this patch addressing??

I downloaded the patch last night to see if it would indeed fix my 6800 GT (AGP), but I was too darn tired to check the before and after CPU utilization while running a WMV-HD. Now, I'm up early, first week of summer, to drive my little sister to school... when I get back, I may check to see whether it fixed anything or not. I'm not getting to excited though...

Smokes on my 6600GT, I'm receiving around 42 - 50% on all of the 1080P demo files for WMV HD on Micrososofts website.

I suspect that the patch will yield great results for the 6600, 6600GT and the 6800NU PCI-e cards as the PureVideo problem was corrected on those newer cores. It's still broken in the 6800NU AGP (same core as the 6800GT with pixel pipelines, etc, disabled), 6800GT and 6800 Ultra.

I suspect it's fully resolved in all the future G70 cards. This doesn't really impact the 6800 series to bad as the MPEG-2 and other "current" tech is working correctly. Don't know if this is entirely specific to just WMV-HD, or if other HD tech will be impacted on the 6800 series.

Since HTPC use is part of my own concern, I went the route of a 6600GT since the information about the PureVideo problem was out in time before I made my decision. If I were an "uber" gamer, I'd have gone with a 6800 Ultra regardless.

This update is awesome! The CPU utilization is cut in half for my 6600GT. I have a NV41M that should also show the same results. This is CPU utilization with Step into Liquid 1080p full screen:

~50% average without the patch

~25% average with the patch

Don't use "6x00", there are different features for purevideo with different GPUs. For instance, by design, a 6600 will do full SD/HD hardware accelerated decode and display processing, but a 6200 will only do this up to 720p.

Slight correction: 6200 and 6600 are the same core, NV43. You mean NV44, which is 6200TC- 6200 with TurboCache. Although yes, it's disappointing that the 6600/6200 has more features than the 6800 (too lazy to check NV41/6800NU-PCIe). The least they could've done would've been offering to replace affected 6800's with a new core revision, after of course fixing it in said core revision.

Why not? my descriptions fit perfectly with what that dumb page says.

So all 6800 AGP's and 6800GT/U PCIe, don't have hardware HD acceleration!
