Nvidia 3d vision

I have Asus' 3D Monitor and I find that it was 100% worth it. I really dont regret buying it at all. I game in 3D and it looks amazing. I watch movies in 3D and their amazing. I dont enjoy gaming anymore unless its in 3D. I have SLI 570's and a I7 920 (Stock) and 9gbs of Raam. I get a solid 60fps in COD black ops and just about every game on max settings. Its pretty much the best thing ever.

Yeah no problem, us 3DVS folks have to watch each others backs :D

Tell me about it! When 3DVS doesn't work it's beyond annoying but when it does it's just awesome. To me it's simply the biggest jump in gaming I've ever seen, the immersion it can add when used with the right game is just incredible and at least in single player Black Ops it does just that, right up there with BC2 but definitely more run and gun that BC2 which appeals to my shallow nature.;)

I have a 3D plasma (VT25), which supports SBS. Does nVidia 3D vision work on 3D TVs? (I can't stand 3D on LCD, too much cross talk compare to plasma)

For me stereo3D is not primarily for fps titles. Though it´s surely nice to check out the weapon models. But what really sells 3D for me as for gaming is racing and flight simulations. Or even other type of simulations like hockey or soccer.

I love how it allows you to really discover the 3D models of aircraft, cars. Really get a sense of their size in a way you never truly get when gaming in 2D no matter how good the 3D models are.

Gives me a headache, looks stupid. Give me more pixels please.

To each his own. It obviously works better for some than others. I don't think I'd have been happy spending a ton of dough for headaches either, I can get those for free.

Less you mean? 2x 1920x1080 with stereo3D.

I don´t get headache by stereo3D when it´s implemented right. A bit more eye straining but not much.

Can I have your sig please ;)

Colour me surprised! stereo3D may be something for movies afterall outside of the Cinema and big screen projectors!. I have been utterly disappointed by the 3D TVs I seen in action before. Watched some trailers from nvidias homepage. Particularly the nurburgring demo was awesome and really put me there. Felt like I was there and not just watching a tv documentary. Seen parts of the same movie maybe the retail on some Philips 3D TV but there the 3D while still quite good was not nearly as good.

Really surprising since it´s 50" vs 23,6 and should be a non contest you would think? Is the 3D standard for TVs that much worse or is it mainly a software issue. Keep in mind how much TN panels stink compared to even average TV:s this was quite odd to me.

Anyway boosted by this I got power DVD MARK II and then watched a low budget british flick the Flood. Picture quality not that great overly sharp in 2D. In 3D it smoothen things up a bit. Still you do loose some IQ when you go 3D but I was amazed how natural the 3D was. Not the papery 3D particularly Samsung 3D TV:s create out of 2D material. Those doesn´t really have any depth just layers.

I could never spot anything wrong in the 3D in term of placement and hardly any sign of ghosting as well. Running with max 3d depth there surely is more fatigue then watching in 2D but 90 minutes in that mode do work.

I was quite shocked to see how well the conversion worked. Judging by the 3D only it wouldn´t feel out of place in a real D cinema except for being slightly more fatiguing and a bit to dark. XL2410T is very bright compared to my G2400W but 3D monitors could do with even more brightness. I wonder what the lifespan of these led lights are?

The movie was totally uninspiring so it was a good choice to test out 3D with. Otherwise it would be a waste of time so I am not really recommending this movie. Have you seen any other disaster movie you know what it´s.

Went ahead and tested an Avatar 3D. As you would expect quite good however there was some traces of samsung 3D here. Maybe due to the larger scope you get the layer effect or the fact it was made for Samsung TVs dunno. Anyway it worked better then Avatar 3D I watched in my Real D cinema and with less fatigue then The Flood due to the higher resolution. It´s amazing to finally see the 3D models as you are supposed to and the omg factor was actually higher then the first time I watched this movie in our Real D Cinema. I must go there again to check if I am just overhyped because I never expected it to work this well.

Monsters vs Aliens 3D I also got to see. This is demoed with 3D TVs all over the place so quite familiar with it by now. The depth was better on my monitor over any of the 3D TVs I seen and less issues with crosstalk as well. Tried another DVD Crank and again worked much better then expected and it´s really not a "gimmick" if you are after maximum realism. Not talking about those jumping out of screen effects I am talking 3D done right. Integrated to make a more realistic picture.

There is a big clutch here though. bluray movies can´t be played through my DVI connection due to copy protection unless you have a monitor with hdcp support on the DVI. I don´t even know if it exist any 120 hertz monitors that offers that?. Would die to find a workaround for this.

ah so frustrating this can be sometimes. Mass Effect 2 is gorgeous in 3D BUT the light effects to show goodes and such distract to much... FSX again gorgeous but the light engine also here is 2D objects and so you have to disable 3D for landings. The latter I can live with but for ME 2 I know I could have such a great experience but am still stuck with 2D :(.

The cut scenes in 3D was particularly great.

I know that vsync is part of the equation, but it kills online gaming with 3D in FPS. Still fun for co-op like Borderlands, but the fact that you are wearing sunglasses can kill the experience when your playing a really good night map in CoD Black Ops (the game that was friggen made with 3D in mind, early lvls are nice and bright).

Pro:
-3D is pure awesome!
-3D movies is great.
-120hz monitor doesn't hurt either.

Cons:
-Drivers, up to date drivers aren't always out at the same time the 3D ones come out (You'll learn to match series, not releases).
-2D effects filters on top of 3D effects sucks (Star Trek Online, WHY!!!).
-Vsync is always on, its in the nature of the beast.
-While 2D Blu-ray playback software maybe easy to get your hands on and up and running, 3D is expensive and a little bit more difficult through other means.

Have you found any bluray software that let you upsample to 3D? Also wonder if you happen to have some true bluray 3D disc to test with if it works with power dvd?

Also have anyone tried nvidias new photo and video section. It says my system doesn´t fullfill the requirements. Tried downloading all the latest beta drivers, silverlight and all?

I'm using Arcsoft 5 and that works great with 3D BD. Haven't played with the photoviewer stuff much but did try out looking at the PGA Championship last year and that used Silverlight.

Thanks oqvist, forgot about this place. Tried both pictures and video and everything worked.

I try to use the newest driver. Sometimes the 3D vision drivers don't roll up with the graphics drivers, so I download the 3D controller drivers and see if they work with the newest drivers, mostly it does.

Wonder why I can´t get it running again. Checked the nVidia forum and most do :(
