so I've heard once in a while the question?

Which nvidia drivers give the best folding performance?

and sometimes our choices are limited, for instance only certain drivers are officially supported under windows7

I had been running 185.85... which got me 8400PPD on my 260s...

today on a whim (while the family sleeps in) I gave the 191.07s a shot.

NOTE: to all, be warned there is a thread in the video card section about how these drivers can KILL your card. This seems to be limited to people with nvidia north bridges.

I've run these drivers before and thought they gave pretty good performance. In fact when my PPD went down, I blamed win7, and got over it fairly quickly. heck 8400PPD per card is pretty good right?

under 191.07, the same WU, same card, same clock

8900PPD.... thats 500PPD per card or an overall increase of 1000PPD on this machine

now concidering that it might also be why these drivers are killing cards.... increasing the process load, but I cant figgure out why that would only affect you on a nforce northbridge.

in any event....these drivers (with some risk) might benefit the team a bit.

 
yup im using 191.07.. getting between 7600-8800 PPD with my GTX 260 @ 675/1458/1150.. i never could get the pos 195.xx WHQL drivers to work.. system was lagging like hell even at stock clocks and the drivers would randomly crash on me.. I'm using a AMD chipset so i think im safe from the card killing issue.. though like you i have no clue what would cause it to kill cards because of the nvidia chipset.. but its honestly another reason why not to buy a motherboard with a nvidia chipset..
 
Further reseach, looks like it's not nvidia NBs.

It seem to be the nf200 chip. So even if you are on a x58, you might not be safe.

NF200 is a nvidia chipset.. which is only on x58 boards with triple/quad SLI i believe..
 
No issues for me on 195.62 on both nV card machines (currently EP45-UD3P w/ 2x GTX 260 216 SC's and 1 G31 chipset mATX with an 8800GT).

beta or WHQL because they are the same version number but the beta works and the WHQL version doesnt..

No problems at all, Folding, gaming, or just general desktop 2D use. Can't say what Forceware's I upgraded from, but I grabbed these (195.62's) a day or two after they came out. I think previously I was running 191 somethings. :eek: No problems under those either.
 
dunno what it is then.. no matter what 195.62 WHQL refuses to work on this system.. the beta drivers were perfectly fine but im to lazy to go through the ropes again to find em since 191.07 are working perfectly fine..
 
I run 191.07's on my EVGA 780i FTW board and never had any issues and performance is as good as it gets as far as I can tell. My 260/216 hits 8930 ppd on the 353pt wu's.
 
Would this help earlier g92 based cards? (GX2s are 92 based right?)

Confirming that 191.07 is a pretty solid driver revision. I've been using it for a couple months here on XP64 with an OC'd 9600GSO and 8800GT. Mainboard is a DFI with the P35 chipset.
