nVida 9300/9400 OCing

I'm thinking of upgrading my MB to a board based on the nVidia 9300/9400 so I can use the IGP for somethink like Physx. I have two concerns with this, windows Vista licensing (I bought the builders version of Vista), and I'm wondering if I will be able to overclock my Q6600 like I can now ( 3.2GHz = 8*400MHz FSB) with my ASUS P5E-VM HDMI. Any suggestions?

-if you have an OEM version of vista, you will be compelled to buy a new licence (cause you changed the mb)

Eh. The 9x355 bit is likely correct, but the "OEM must buy a new license" thing... no really.

If you're willing to call Microsoft a few times (potentially, could just get lucky with the first person to answer) you /can/ get an OEM copy re-activated without major issue. If they tell you no say "thanks" politely, hang up, and call again. With luck the automated phone system will work and you'll never have to talk to anyone... but don't buy a new license. It's not necessary.
 
Doesn't sound promising. Maybe I should consider the ASUS P5Q-EM or another G45 mATX board instead. I will be using a dedicated video card in it.

OH, I see what your saying now, so not only upgrade board but CPU as well if I want good overclocks. It doesn't seem worth it then, not with the release of new intel CPU's. Any data on the G45 vs. G35 intel boards?

450 fsb isnt too shabby IMO. Quads are always harder to OC it seems.

Yes, but that was 450 FSB with a 45nm dual, not 450 FSB with a quad of any description. Nvidia's chipsets are horrible for OCing the quads -- I know this from personal experience with /numerous/ implementations.

Yeah, I know he did it with a dual core @450. My first sentence was in relation to his 450 OC and my second sentence was just me saying quads are just harder to OC. I probably didnt structure my meaning clear enough. My aplogies if so. :)
