For my upcoming rebuild I'm going to be using two eVGA 7800GT's. Now I was planning on taking off my low-profile DD maze 4 gpu on 6800gt and using that, then I rembered the NV68's. My question is, is the ram cooling really needed, and will two of these blocks (my friend has one that ways alot) put alot of stress on my videocards?

as for the stress it puts on the vid card, you can get a "card keeper" it really helps.

Here's what Danger Den says about it.

Danger Den Site said:
NV-68 Block- There is a change to the 7800 series cards. The height difference of the RAM to the GPU has changed by about the diameter of a human hair (0.006 inches or 0.15mm). Danger Den will make a modifed block to officially work with the 7800 series. Also, there is RAM on the backside of the card. This requires a modifed backing plate and RAM sinks.

if you dont mind putting big heat sinks on your ram, the maze4 from what i have seen for temps performs better then the nv68, i just modded my stock ramsinks to make it fit

Danger Den's 7800 block should be out in 10 to 14 days according to their site. From their statement, even though it's such a small height difference change in the ram and GPU, they don't recommend the NV68 for the 7800s.

also..if its possible to wait for swiftech gpu block should be out within the next following week

I would say the Maze4 and some ramsinks instead becuase I have an NV-68 and i am not impressed with the results. Its not that good of a core cooler.
Had an NV-68, it sort of sucked, have a Maze4 w/ ramsinks now and i'm much happier (and have more $$$ in my pocket ;) )
