NV5 worth it?

hey, i'm the proud owner of a 6800GT and 6800Ultra... i was wonderin if i should get the NV5 here NV5
newegg.com is my friend :p

plannin on oc'ing the Ultra, and possibly selling the GT in the future and was wondering if an NV5 would raise the resell price

any help is appreciated ('cept from Alex :p... jk)
 
if u r willing to spent a few hours sanding teh NV5 to fit in properly then yes, otherwise it's no better than stock cooling, and in some cases, much worse (depends on how big would be the gap b/n the NV5 and GPU - there is always a gap)

As for sell price, yeah it will but not by much. I just sold 6800gt with NV5 for mere $390, couldn't get a better offer.
 
definetely on ur GT but on the ULTRA.. unless u got lots of time cutting and stuff... and want that extra 1-2c cooler.. go ahead.. but it's not worth it on the ultra because the stock on it is already good :)
 
I don't own an Ultra...but on my vanilla 6800 it's significantly lowered temps. 49-51C instead of 57-58C at idle, bigger differences under load. Lowers ambient case temps some too.

I would recommend lapping it when you get it though. I used 600, 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit hobby sandpaper to smooth mine.
