Does the nv silencer actually work well. Though in reviews they state that it cools excellently, i have read on this site very often that it is often difficult to attach, and does not always come in full contact woth the core and ramsinks.
is it just luck of the draw?
can you return it if it doesn't work, or will you always have to do these modifications to it to make it work?
wil it work with sli, i.e will two of them fit?
as always thanks for your help

I've owned several of the ATI Silencer's and they've all worked great for me. You should be able to return it if your not satisfied but you won't have to worry about that cuz you'll love it.

As for SLI, from the pictures I've seen, there's no way you can fit the NV Silencers on there.

thus far I have two VGA Silencers rev3, one on a 9700Pro, one on a 9800SE -> 9800Pro softmod, and an NV Silencer 5 on my 6800GT.

All of which work great (personally I would lap them) & installed easy (use common sense and follow instructions). You shouldn't have any fitment problems with most cards.

Be sure to follow the directions on the correct application of thermal material, and be sure to plug that fan into the card and plug the card in.

Get a real cooler:
VGA Silencer.

Same product, douche bag, just a newer version by the same company.

i have read on this site very often that it is often difficult to attach, and does not always come in full contact woth the core and ramsinks.

Difficult to attach? There are only 4 screws, 4 rubber grommets, and the cooler... not alot of variables to parse. ;)

There are like 1 or 2 people who bitch over and over because they were out-smarted by screws. As always on the internet, consider the source. :D

See, review sites often aren't run by complete technical retards, hence an easy to use product that produces good results gets a good review.

The truth is that the Silencers are very quiet and cool very well, and are simple to install if you just follow the instructions, take your time, and use your brain.

Do a search in the video cards section and you will find a step-by-step guide for installing the NV Silencer 5.

Whats the easiest way to power it up if your card dosen't have a fan power connector, a hacked up molex connector? Is it long enough and the right type to connect to a motherboard fan socket?
