NV Silencer 5.0 Install Question

Hey guys, I just received my NV silcer 5.0 for my 6800gts. It comes with a tube of "silicone paste." I have artic silver 5 ordered but wont come in for a few days (8grams of it) Should i use this silicone paste that comes with the nv silencer, or wait on the artic silver 5. And if i do wait on the artic silver 5.. will it be enough to cover my cpu + this huge heatsink that nv silencer has.?

Your input would be greatly apreciated!

Wait on the AS5, its better than the paste that comes with the cooler. That said I used a combination myself, AS5 on the core and white paste on my ram. Reason is that AS5 is slightly conductive and I didn't want to take the risk with the ram.

btw you dont have to cover the whole heatsink...you just need to put it on the cores...so it will be plenty..and then some..

Ceramique is also a good choice. 100% non-conductive and 100% non-capacitive. AS5 is slightly capacitive.
 
hmm.. alright, guess ill use past on memory.. dont wanna mess things up.. btw has anyone used as5 on the memory without problems?

AS5 is not electrically conductive. Says so right on their site. This is a common misconception. There is no reason not to use it on your RAM. I used it on everything with no problems. Just don't get gobs of it all over the rest of your board, but that's just common sense.

Im using AS5 on everything and never had any problems!
I heard it is only conductive under imense pressure of say a few tons p/i or so...

There is still a risk, according to that. But if you do it right, no worries.

Agreed, I also like the ceramique because it is a little heavyer and on the ram makes for better results imo.

Try to tighten the screws first in the nuts without anything else. That way you can feel how much pressure you will feel when you tighten down the puppy on the card.

The copper is basically sandblasted finish, I'd say around 400 grit roughness

Did a lapdance,Shiny as my hiknee (sorry couldn't resist )

all temps at 26c room temps
RTHDRBL at 20 fps / 30 minutes
idle temps: 60 minutes after cold start

The change in MB temps, while not hugh, are due to the hot air being exhausted out the back;. 3 degrees c under load, thankyou.

I was hoping for more, but I'll take the 3c under idle and 6c under load.

One thing I did notice is that the back of the card is much cooler to the touch, But the area where the (not sure what the right name is) power conditioners are (the small inline heatsink that isn't replaced) is still way to friggin hot . If that puppy could be cooled better the whole rig would cool down by a gajillion degrees!
I'll bet that burns out before any [H]ard OvClking on the GPU

Not only that but I can increase my FSB also!
