I know like nothing about ram so I just have a general question. If 2 sets of ram were the same brand, 1 set is 2 gig 1066mhz and the other 4 gig 800mhz, which would be better for gaming? Thanks.

No noticeable difference in framerates in either setup. That said if you use Vista you'd probably be better off with the 4GB, as Vista will cache more stuff based on how much RAM you have, resulting in a more responsive experience in general. Vista also has a larger memory footprint and 4GB will give you a little more legroom for your games.

Ram speed makes no difference if you are running them at stock (800mhz) unless one kit is running extremely low latency. If you are running them at their spec'd speeds, then the 1066mhz would come out on top, especially in benchmarks or things that can make use of the extra bandwidth. Otherwise, they perform roughly the same. I noticed hardly any real world difference in games when running my ram at 1000mhz vs 800mhz.

It would also depend on the OS used 32bit vs 64bit and also the game.
