I want my 8800gts's fan to run full speed all the time, but when i increase the speed in ntune it doesnt save it after a reboot. Even though i save the profile and make the profile load with windows, the profile loads but the fan speed is always the same.

Google for Expertool from Gainward. works a treat for me.

download rivatuner 2.04 for all your fan and overclocking needs

it works perfect.

and here is a link for seting up fan and oc profiles

p.s ntune sucks ass

X2, Rivatuner is probably the best overclock utility (ATI tool is good to though), very easy to use and learn and works just fine for settign fan speeds and overclocking your card to the nuts.

Another vote for RivaTuner. The fan control is extremely comprehensive.

Now all we need is an amalgamation of RivaTuner and nHancer, and we'll be golden.

I have the dual 8800GTX SLI on my computer and was able to adjust each GPU fan individually. Now after downloading the latest Nvidia drivers it does not give me the option to adjust both GPUs. How do I get this option back again?
I am using Riva Tuner 2.04.

Ugh I hate rivtuner, what a pain in the as#. It wont switch from 80% fan speed to 100% when the temp reaches a certain point, and it wont save my over clock settings.

Well rivatuner and ntune wont let me overclock. Whenever I change the speeds it just jumps back to a lower number. What the hell?

I had to specify a value for the shader multiplyer (default value is -1) with rivatuner 2.04 before I could overclock anything.

Works great for me, what card / drivers / version are you using?

well the nice thing about RT is u set it up to overclock in 3d apps and when u go back to your desktop is drops the core down to normal speed. just have RT running and open up a 3d app in window mode and watch the clocks jump up.

Oh that reminded me, make sure you open the monitor thing and check the little pin so that it monitors even when its closed (but rivatuner is running), thats probably why the temps / fan aren't working.

Look up the shader clock:core clock ratio.
every speed in a certain frequency defaults to a certain value.

Alright I dont know what "pin" you are talkign about. And I still dont get why it wont save my settings, its not even just after a reboot, its after I close the clock window. Dammit I hate software overclocking.

Update, well forgeting about rivatuner because im so sick of it right now, i tried using ntune and it lets me raise the speed to 594 mhz, but any higher than that and it will just jump right back down to 594. Why the hell???

First off, in Rivatuner, make sure you are testing it and then saving the settings. In the monitor view (should have lots of graphs that can every second or so), there is some red button or pin like thing in the bottom left corner (irrc).

Second, there are clock ranges, which is why 594 seems like a high point, when you have to go to like 620 or something to go higher.

Alright I think it was the driver, I downloaded the new beta 169.71 driver and now I can raise the frequency again, Im goign to redo the thermal job on the card and then ill try overclocking it. And btw, how does the dx10 call of juarez demo work as an overclock tester?

Alright I redid the thermal job, I boosted the mem freq to 1100 and the gpu clock to 691 and I only had time to run 3d mark (unregistered) and the call of juarez demo once. THe gpu got to 76 degrees, and I didnt notice anything strange like artifacts. And also why does the gpu take really long to cool down after reaching its max temp?

The guide linked there for RT is for v2.0. The new version is 2.04 and they are different, without the complicated fan profiles etc. Is it okay to just set the core and memory freqs, test, save, set to windows startup and go about my business?

that guide works for all versions is was just done on 2.0 and its a nice guide to se up fan profiles and thresholds if u don't want your gpu fan running at 100% all the time. i have mine setup that way so when i am gaming it runs at 100% and idle 70-80%

Alright rivatuner runs fine now, it just didnt work with the 169.67 drivers.
