well, i had a missing ntrdll thingy. ffixed that. let me give you a lil history first..
my C: drive hdd is bad, clicking, barely works, saved all data to other hdds. windowsxp is installed on a partioned slave drive. well, i want to yank out my bad c: hdd and continue using windoes on my D: partioned slave drive.
windows is giving me a hell of a time to do this.
i have gone into xp revorcery via the cd, re did the bootcfg, i rebuild, fixmbr, fixboot etc...
oh, and sense then i have moved my slave partioned drive to master. so i re did the bootcfg, but sense windows is on D:\windows instead of C:\windows, when i try to fixboot it writes it to the c:drive.... path C:\windows which doesnt excsist..
so my question is, could i boot up into windows with old config, badd hdd and windows on slave drive, delete bad hdd named C:, rename D: to C: then re-write bootcfg.. would that work then? cuzz at the moment with D:\windows as master, with re-written boot, when it gets to the point of loading windows, it basicly just restarts.
i dont want to rename D: to C: if i dont have to, but if i do will it work? cuzz if i hook up old hdd and convert to old settings it works, but if i rename D: to C: and then doesnt work, then im truely screwd...
thanks for any help!!
p.s one thing i noticed in the windows recovery console, when it searches for all windows installations, it comes up with 1 at drive C:, is no drive C:, windows is on drive D:...
furthermore, when i DIR drive d, it shows me the contents of drive E: (drive D: and E: are the same physical hdd, parptioned into 2) and if i do DIR C: i think all it is showing me is the stuff loaded from booting into the windowsxp cd.
if any of that stuff helps.
