Now this was odd

I found this kind of funny. I recently replaced my aging system with a new rig. Pretty nice one at that. But in the process I noticed something strange on newegg.

I bought this on newegg a couple days ago.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-473&depa=1

1st part that was odd was that the picture is not what I recieved. Well it is, but instead of it saying "ATI Radeon" it has a sticker of some dragon looking thing on it. Also the card has a 4 prong power plug just like that on the P4 and now the Athlon motherboards.

But everything shows it fine as a X850 XT PE

I paid [oh this part FREAKING SUCKS!] 699 for it. Now the odd part, the second after I hit the purchase button and my order was confirmed I went back to gloat over the images of my new card, and saw what you see if you clicked on the link. The card jumped from an insane 699 to a completely NUTZ $999.00

Kinda spooky when a card jumps up 300 bux in 30 seconds.

I didn't think to since it was priced the same as everyone else had it for a few days ago.

OMFG I just went back and now I am completely gone.
When i hit the buy link it said 699, it was charged to me @ 799 I want to spout some major explainatives right now and I am sick to my stomache. I didn't even catch that until just now.

MB ABIT Fatal1ty AA8XE 925XE ATX (Qty=1,Price=$226.00) VGA SAPPHIRE X850 XT 256M 101 % (Qty=1,Price=$799.00) CPU P4/3.6GHz 800M LGA775|2M RTL (Qty=1,Price=$624.00)
DDR2 OCZ | 2x512M OCZ26671024PFDC-K (Qty=1,Price=$225.25)

I bought a buttload of other stuff on that run and I didnt even pay attention, holy hell I need to go change my reserve bid on the x800 xtpe I'm selling.

But even so, its still a pretty fine rig. Running rock solid no extra memory tweaks, no extra voltage and using the stock 775 cooler [holy HELL I HATE THOSE] at a cool 4.1 Ghz. And it is even running fairly cool.Idle 116F. Load jumps up to about 150F! I even set off my alarm a couple times until I changed the pad on the HSF to some good old Arctic Silver. [was idle 150 load 170+ before]

Anyway I do feel both the joy of the power this fine rig posesses, and the horror of just how much I actually paid for this power. Especially since my old rig was not really old nor slow. It was a P4 3.4E@3.8 on a IC7-G with a gig of HyperX and a X800 XT PE

Now I'm off to find some other pit to toss my cash into :(

And Newegg even commented out the amount you put in your comment on the card's page ;):

By far awesome, oddly yesterday I was able to get this card for under xxx and now it is xxxx, wow. But WOW. I actually upgraded from a P4 3.4E@3.8Ghz on an Abit IC7-G with a ATI X800 XT PE AGP. It was a ROCKET, still is in the 6 months that I have owned it. But it flat out doesn't compare to the new rig:

Man they are sneaky. Too damn bad they ship so freaking fast!

ehh... newegg is cool... some of there stuff can be rather high compared to other online retailers... i remember at a time the NV silencer 5 was like 50$ when elsewhere was 30$

Newegg = Communists, lol.

Who doesn't agree with that statement?

I don't agree with that at all. Sounds like you need to look up communist actually means.

I kinda think he really meant that in the "lets censor everything” part of what we are led to believe communists do.

Say that 10 times really fast.

And just HOW many posts does one have to do to get rid of that newbie title!

I can understand why they would censor someone posting price changes, if I saw someone got the card for $699 thirty minutes before I placed my $999 order I would be steaming. Its in their best interest to block comments about pricing, very smart too.

I had somthing similar happen to me. I was looking at an ECS socket 939 MB b/c of its good reviews and price. It was priced at $109 for months and 30secs before I go to order It raises in price to $117. Then I decide to check out some different options jsut to be safe. 30 minutes later it jsut dissapeared. I looked for the delux one (the only difference is it comes witha wi-fi acessory) and it costs $137. What's NewEggs problem?
