Now that Conroe is out...

Is anyone else excited to see Merom benchmarks in August? I'm personally psyched. If Merom really does have the same performance jump as Conroe did then laptops will become monsters real soon.

And the funniest thing will definitely be the fact that Intel's notebook chips will be faster at stock than AMD's FX desktop chips. That would probably put an end to the desktop replacement notebooks that use the FX as their processor.

Anyone else dying to see Merom in action?

You can't OC notebook processors easily which means that the AMD desktop lines will still remain in power. However, I'm personally excited to see the release of merom so I can pop one into a mac mini and have it fold!

I do. Once Merom is inside a Thinkpad, im instantly buying it. No questions asked.

Wrong, the higher end Meroms will easily beat the FX-62. Meroms are very similar to the conroe itself.

The highest merom runs at 2.33. That doesn't beat an FX-62. Close.. but no cigar! And I doubt you'll be able to OC it within a laptop unless it's one of those pin mods again.
