Normally we don’t get cover a lot of mouse news and reviews but this Nova Slider 600 is a bit different than other mice. Yeah it has “indestructible” ceramic feet and other stuff but the big difference between it and other mice is the cord placement. Could you use a mouse with cord coming out of the side?

I don't like the cord placement, but would be cool to try... it is also nice for those with short desks so your cable doesn't hang off the desk or get stuck between the desk and the wall... but the opposite is also an issue where the cord could bump something next to you (in lanparties you have very little desk space side to side most of the time).

Indestructible feet? Pfft... nothing is indestructible.

Unless your hand is smaller than the mouse surface, the cord out the side is really going to screw things up.

Well, I could probably get used to the cord if I used the mouse long enough.
The ceramic mouse feet are what draws me the most to this product, the majority of the mice in my house are ground down to the plastic and I'd like to see those ceramic feet after a half year/year of use.

I could see some of the more intense gamers slamming their mouse around and cracking their feet, also I wonder if instead of the mouse feet wearing out we would have people having to replace their mousepads/desks due to ceramic wear and tear :p

I don't know how other people hold their mice, but that cord would end up right where my ring finger and pinky normally sit...

$99 and still corded? Hell no.

This gamer will never use another corded mouse again, even if I have to keep a stock of G7's for when they break.

Sorry to break it to you, corded is still superior :p

I reckon having the cord on the side will make it a better gaming mouse, if not a more comfortable one (weight of cord hanging completely over the table can assist in long-term strain)

Hate to break it to you, but it isn't. I should know, I was as anti wireless as they come since I compete, the G7 proved all my misconceptions about wireless being inferior as just that, Misconceptions.

If you look closer at the picture, you'll see that there are grooves for those to fingers off to the side of the main mouse buttons.

I have a large hand I think the shape of this mouse looks very comfortable. Unfortunately, I am not sure how easily it will be to lift the mouse during gaming with that shape.

Combined with the rather odd side-cord, I'd really like to be able to try this one out before buying.

Prove me wrong in the arena of professional gaming. ;)

This is lame. Who was the industrial designer and engineer(s) on this that did their ergonomic studies? They are retards if they think a right side wired mouse will not get in the way. After all that trouble they might as well have just gone wireless. I don't care about the indestructible feet. I care that they didn't do their due diligence on the design. This is stupid design and I'd tell them that to their face. Someone should have stopped this in the development phase and called the designers out on it.

have you even tried it? I mean it's ok to speculate that it might not work, but your rant is a little overboard for one who hasn't even tried the product.

I was one of the top ranked players for years in BF1942/Desert Combat on a G7, thanks.

Could have easily been one of the top in BF2, but my new baby was more important to me at that time of my life then spending 60 hours a week competing. Still play FPS fairly often and have no trouble at all going against the best players in the game and holding my own, despite using a "Inferior" wireless mouse and playing less then 10 hours a week average now.

How's your batteries hold up? Ever run low while gaming? I imagine 60 hours a week you MUST have had to change out the batteries.

Nope. I haven't tried it, but I can do a decent visual study as someone who designs and develops products like this one that from an ergonomic point of view that have a side wired mouse would be irritating to use and annoying to manipulate.

I can clearly see that they've tried to incorporate ring and pinky finger scallops onto the side top right side of the mouse as a means to keep peoples fingers in line. Unfortunately, this isn't how people use or handle a computer mouse. From an aesthetic point of view, it's a visual disturbance and has an asymmetry that I personally find annoying, but this is a subjective assessment from my years of experience and in developing products like this. Unless you've developed product then you really don't understand what you are talking about.

The G7 has 2 lithium ion rechargeable batteries, one is constantly in the charger and thus charged. If you have ever seen the G5, they just replaced the weight tray with the battery. It takes all of 2 seconds to swap the battery, but obviously if I was going into a match I put the fully charged one in. You can expect 3 to 4 hours of life out of a full charge, and the dead battery is always charged well before you need it.

Please bear in mind that G7 is the Only wireless mouse I have ever used that was good for gaming. As much as I like the MX line for work, they are just crap for gaming. Of course any mouse that uses AA batteries is flat off the list, I won't even consider having to deal with that. My only real complaint about the G7 is the lack of buttons on it. I rather like being able to map as many things to my mouse as possible and the G7 took away 1 button that I was used too on other mice. Granted I adapted, but it was a bit of an annoyance. It is why I keep an eye on pretty much any gaming mouse that hits the market. I am not opposed to changing mice, but I have very strict criteria before I will consider it.

1) Wireless, as I said I will never use a wired again. But not just wireless Fast RF or bluetooth. I would really like to see a Gaming mouse based on bluetooth since I have tested a few BT mice and their responsiveness is fantastic. On the downside it has to be done right because implemented wrong BT sucks.

2) Quick swap recharge battery, This is not an option for a quality wireless gaming mouse it is a Flat must. The only thing worse then a battery going dead at a bad time, is having to fumble to switch to a new one. Yep I have made the mistake of forgetting to change a battery before, and being able to swap with one hand in a mere second while continuing to game with my other is a lifesaver. In short of a gaming mouse doesn't have this, it is off the list.

3) Obviously hyper glide feet, the bigger the better..

4) Laser 1500dpi or above, Anything less I can't function on. It has to be sensitive and it has to be extremely accurate. Mouse cursor jumping around is a major no no.

5) Compatibility with hard surface gaming mats, Yea i have used a mouse that couldn't track on my Func F30r. That was rather irritating.

5) Comfort, Everyone has a different hand. Some like the Razer design, I can't stand it and think it is horrible. Me I like the G7 but I really like the MX...how I wish they would make a G7 in the MX case. The only problem I have with the MX is it lacks proper feet and is a tad heavy. I have though about modding one of my Dead MX revolutions just to see if I could get it to work, but I haven't had the time.

6) And last, the ability to adjust sensitivity at the touch of a button. This is another absolute must. If I am running around with a Gun, I want a completely different sensitivity then when I am using a sniper rifle or if I am operating a vehicle. Being able to adjust sensitivity on the fly is a huge deal to me.

I would love to see my Leftie cousin try to use this. He'd end up bashing the cord into the side of the keyboard for sure.

my mother's left handed and she uses her mouse with her right hand.

I have a hard time findind a mouse I like for the same reason...big hands. (You will know what I mean if you wear a size 13 or larger ring). Logitech has absoluutely nothing for me. I'm getting by on a copperhead for now, which is almost a good fit except the side buttons are hard to get to, need to be more forward.
