Some people are predicting that laptop sales will surpass their desktop brethren by 2011.

"In the United States, portable PC shipments will maintain double-digit growth through 2010, but this shift to mobility will not be enough to offset reduced demand for desktops," Doug Bell, IDC personal computing program analyst, said in a statement.

with them being as cheap as they are now, yes. most people dont need the increased power and expandability of a desktop, when all they do is listen to music, write papers, and browse fucking social sites

understandable, but it's just going to be another seperation between casual and enthusiast, simple fact of it is i can't mess with a lappy as much as i can with a desktop, i can't hotswap as many parts. Simply put while prices fall on the technology, to do the what i need a computer to do would drive the notebooks price up enough that it would not be as cost effective for me as for someone who..yeah...music, papers and social sites

that being said... i <3 my big bulky full tower case

viva la desktop

I bought a laptop that could be used as a gaming machine and take it to school to use. It collects dust in my backpack now. I thought I would use it just as much, but I soon ran out of hard drive space. Their great for using at school, but at home Ill stick with my computer.
