It is a Compaq Presario 2500 (specifically 2594US) notebook
I used a Winflash utility from their website to update the BIOS:

(I was hoping to fix an audio problem.) However, right before it started programming the BIOS it froze and has been completely unresponsive since. I waited 48 hours before hitting the reset button on the bottom of the notebook and taking out the battery. It is still unresponsive, I have tried a couple different working power supplies and the notebook does not even try to power on (no LEDs or anything!)
Would a bricked laptop be completely dead like this? Is there any hope aside from a new motherboard?
