Notebook Sound (SR-60/80's) ?

Thinking about getting some SR-60/SR-80's for gaming and music.... thoughts and ideas why I should/shouldn't get a pair?

It will probably be running on my Sonoma-Chipset Intergrated... (great audio so far, and isn't it Intel's Azelia solution?) They'll also end up on my planned hdd-based mp3 player purchase when I get around to it... and occasionally on my Audigy 2-equipped desktop for lans...

If that's not good enough, I've been eyeing other sounds cards for my PCMCIA slot, even USB... any suggestions? I'd like to get something other than Audigy 2, just to be different... but I'm open to suggestions.

Not portable? If I put them on my head, they're not leaving

yes, please continue, I've heard nothing but rave reviews... what would you suggest?

The cord is pretty long and a bit thick for a portable can. I used it a couple times with a Ipod and I'd always have this extra length of cable dangling from my pocket. YMMV with the comfort thing, but with the stock pads, my ears would hurt after about an hour.

Oh, I love long/thick cords, all of my headphones have died from thin wires and poor connections to the headphones, so this is kinda like future-proofing in order to not get it spankified!

I suggest you use the forum search cause we have been over this topic a thousand times.
Aside from that I can't help you much unless you give me a budget to work with.
I would also suggest that you go demo some cans... headphones are way to subjective to base a opinion on what you read in some review. .

Well the $50-75 for the Grados is quite reasonable, so about that... also, I can't really use the search button, it 90% doesn't come up for me... and if it does, I have no idea what to search for

I forgot to add that using the Sennheiser HD414 earpads helped with the comfort issue.

And I see that you're from MA. If you can get to Boston, I believe Spearit Audio on Commonwealth Ave. (right on BU campus) has Grado's in stock. I'd give em a call to make sure they have em in stock if you're interested in auditioning them.

I have a pair of SR-80's and they're pretty good. Some people like the "brightness". The only thing I find disappointing about them is the lack of a good soundstage.

Nope, I actually rather not, I like the ability to hear people talking to me (it's quite the occasion when that actually happens!)
