Contrary to popular belief, PCs aren't dead. The top 5 notebook brands in the world saw a 11% increase in August shipments. HP reported a 20% increase, while Lenovo only reported an increase of less than 10% due to tension in China. However, thanks to Intel's CPU shortage, shipments are still down down year on year.

Quanta Computer surpassed Compal Electronics and returned as the largest maker worldwide thanks to dramatic growths in its orders from US- and Taiwan-based clients, boosting its shipments by nearly 20% in the month.
