Need some opinions. Current pc setup is

Athlon 2400xp
A7n8x Deluxe
512 meg ram (pc2100)
Geforce 4 TI 4200

A Geforce 6800OC from best buy costs 324.96 (after tax) in my area and a Athlon 3200 (barton) + 1 gig of Corsair Value Select ram (PC 3200) costs 324.00 with free shipping from New Egg. I picked up the 6800OC a few days ago and noticed a descent improvement in Doom III and Far Cry but very little improvement in World of Warcraft. Im mostly playing WoW but still like FPS games. Am I just crippling this vid card with my other components? Should I just take back the video card and switch it out for the CPU and Ram (and a FSB increase) and maybe pick a new video card later?

Any advice is appreciated.
 
I suppose you could be CPU limited if you play in a relatively low resolution. If you crank it up a bit, do you notice if it maintains more or less the same frame rates, no matter what the resolution? If it does, that's a sign of a CPU bottleneck. I don't know how much stress WoW places on hardware so I could only speculate on what resolution the limits of the video card might kick in.

If you normally play at 1024x748, you could start turning up the anti aliasing and see if the frame rates fall - again if they don't, your CPU is holding you back.
 
1024x768 with no AA or AF and everything in game set on medium vs. 1280x960 wit 2x AA and 8x FA with everything in game maxed results in about 10fps difference. So im guessing the cpu/ram is the bottleneck.
 
Even if you got a faster processor I highly doubt your old graphics card would keep up with your 6800, hobbled as it is by your current CPU.

If it was me, I'd upgrade the processor and RAM in the future, rather than taking the graphics card back.
