not recognizing 9600

Yah the ATI drivers nor Windows recognizes my brother's 9600. He disabled onboard video and now he's got nothin at all. He can't put it in another computer or try a different card in the slot at the moment. Are there some other options we could try?
 
Yah he can get into windows at super low res now...just under hardware windows claims it's not there, ATI drivers don't recognize anything there.
 
refurb, got it today...he says something about it saying to disable onboard video? He just deleted the drivers and stuff for it...maybe something in BIOS? I'm not there with him this is over the phone stuff. i845g is the mobo.

Did he use driver cleaner? worth a shot.
 
the manual claims that you need to disable onboard video, but it's not an option in the BIOS according to him. Is there away to disable it from the jumpers on the motherboard? IBM i845g is the model apparently...I can't find it

Couldn't tell u tbh. If he hasn't used driver cleaner to completely get rid of previous drivers. If that doesn't work and the mobo defo has on board, there must be an option somewhere in BIOS to disable it.....
 
Could be a bad card. I had issues getting a 9600XT that we bought used a couple of months ago to work. It wouldn't read anything about the card in windows and the ATI drivers would say that no ATI card was installed. After playing with drivers, I was able to get Windows to see it correctly and install the drivers, but at anything higher than 640x480 the screen would get all garbled.
