Ive always wanted / needed a dremel esque tool so that i can start modding, the only thing that has put me off is the price. Today i stumbled upon a cheaper product:

But i was woundering if 18v was a bit underpowerd for cutting metals and grinding?

Even weaker is its 12v cousin

Any thoughts or similar products?

Cheers, Luther

I've heard that the batteries on those things don't last long enough to be of any use.

yeah, always go with a corded dremel(esque) tool. Reason is that if you use it to cut metal or anything hard, it'll eat the stored energy for breakfast in one of those little batteries.

If you are looking for a dremal style tool that is pretty cheap try pepboys. I picked one up for $18 and it works like a charm.

Also it is corded and has been able to cut through steel and aluminium cases using dremal cutting bits.

Oh sorry did not know you where in england so that kinda kills my idea.
Well now you are going to have to find a cheap dremal online, just remember that it has to be corded.
