just wondering (im a noob) to how i install the stock heatsink and fan?

Do i just place the processor in right and just firmly place the heatsink and fan on top until it clicks into place?

Should i clean the surface of a retail box processor with alcohol?

ALso would it be wise to rub off the thermal pad/grease from the heatsink and just put my own arctic silver 5?

thanks

The thermal pad may or may not be as good as AS5... It depends on how old your processor is. I'd still clean it off, no matter what, and re-apply.

As for putting the HSF on, ther should be a 2 sided clip. Slide the side (without the little arm piece) over the pins on the HSF socket, then try and press the other side down...

ok thanks yes its a brand new processor so im not sure if i should clean off the processor, its straight opened retail box.

use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to clean the metal surface of the CPU. I would anyway, as anything left on the cover can have compounds in it that might impede heat transfer from the heatsink on the chip to the heatsink surface
