The textures are blended extremely sloppy on the terrain.
Don't get me started on how the water looks like.
Ocassionally i have run into some terrain thats black, purple, green u name it..

i am running on v 66.93, nothing o/ced or tinkered with.. this is first time i see this.

Well, you could try getting the Beta Forceware Drivers off www.guru3d.com. You might also want to check out and install the latest patch for Far Cry. If that doesn't solve your problem, then it might :-P be hardware related. Haha.

Haha?
i doubt its hardware related.
i benched with, hl2, doom3, 3dmark01,03,05, and aquamark.. nothing hardware about it.. its the game and the drivers.

about forceware betas.. which one is most stable for my card?

Do you have the newest patch for Far Cry, I had problems with the retail version, when I got patch 1.2 or 1.3 it fixed everything.

You must not have the latest patch, IIRC that's what the game looks like on 6800 series cards un-patched.

I have the Beta Forcewares on mine. 71.24 They work fine, no problem yet. And like I said, update FarCry as well. All Nvidia Drivers work for all Nvidia Cards btw.

Do you have patch 1.3 installed? if not download and install it

the game shouldn't look like that, it is not normal, so you have some kind of bug or driver conflict or something

also make sure you are enabling AA and AF from inside the game, and leave your control panel on application preference

Hey are you running it with AA and AF? If you'r getting those frame rates with a 6600GT, then maybe I should opt for that instead of a 6800GT and save some bucks...

Picture # 3 was what my 6800U looked like till I got Far Cry patched to 1.3, after which it was all fine.

THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME! I just installed teh 1.3 patch and it was PERFECT. all you need is the 1.3 patch.

GOSH!

You guys are totally missing the point!

He's obviously not happy because he's out of Armor!

Mother Fu*** okay so 1.3 patch.. but this is a demo. oh well.. thanks everyone

ahhhh, that you didn't mention

that makes a big difference

the demo is based on an older build of the game engine, and doesn't detect NV40 class GPU's

when you get the full game you have to patch to 1.3 to detect NV40 class properly

lol, the patch did not work for the demo.. didn't allow install.

Buy the game. You should be able to pick it up cheap now and it's one of the most immersive games I've played.

I had some problems with Far Cry with both my old Ultra and XT PE. The Ultra would stutter alot along with visual imperfections. The XT PE would just have some artifacts in certain levels. The patch, different drivers, reinstalling didnt help. After about a month of just letting the game sit on a shelf, installed worked great ever since.

you can get copies on ebay on the cheap. Got a open/return at compusa for $19. I was :)
