I have the KV8-PRO motherboard from abit, some cheapo Buffalo B-line pc3200 ram, an amd
athlon 64 2800+. I did some avid overclocking and hit 264 on the htt which is 2376 mhz. im really pushing for that 2.4 ghz mark. everything runs nicely and stable at 2376 mhz, but if i up the htt even one more mhz, the ram gets no less then 10 errors in memtest86.

the ram timings are 2.5-3-3-6 and the voltage is 2.65. i have it on ddr 333 settings in the bios so it runs at ddr 440 according to memtest 86, but according to cpuid it runs at ddr434.

i dont wanna lower my divider to ddr 266 cause the loss in bandwidth would be huge.

im outta ideas on this one guys,
 
have you tried raising the ram timings?

have you tried raising the ram voltage?


just a few ideas off the top of my head
 
raise the timings to 3-4-4-8 increase volts to 2.9 and hope...if that dont work invest in pc-4000 ram and dont even use ratios
 
yea, i tried some looser timings of 2.5-4-4-8, and still errors, i havent upped the ram voltage, but im thinking thats my number one option. i might be asking too much of my 60 dollar ram. clearly shouldnt have skimped on the ram. i might end up investing in some new ram soon. you never know.
 
if you interested im thinking of selling my 1gb (2x512) dual channel kit of ocz pc3200 that runs at 2-3-3-6 and at 2.5-3-3-6 itll go up to 450mhz ill take $180
 
yea, i tried upping the ram to 2.8 volts(max setting in bios) and lowering the timings to 3-3-3-6 and still errors. i scaled back to 265 and loosened the timings to 2.5-4-4-8 with 2.8 volts and get more errors then before, im running out of ideas,. i think i might hafta bite the buleet and buy some new ram, but im 15 and moneys hard to come by(still paying off the parents for the ram and processor) so it could be another 2 months before i can get some decent ram, non-value this time. any temporary solutions until then? should i just lower the ram speed to 266 and have DDR360?? i need answers, im going mad
 
can you get to 300htt?

if so, run 300*8 with the ram at 133mhz, i'll give you 2.4ghz and 200mhz on the nose ;)
 
Have you Lowered your HTT multiplier?

Thats the speed the CPU Accesses the memory and if its too fast that can account for a lot of errors.

Should be at 3X for anything over 250 HTT Bus
 
yea i have the ldt set at 3x. iwas thinking if i bumped the htt up to 300 and the multi down to 8 id be good, would i hafta increase the vcore to do this? or do you think it would be stable as is(1.5v)?
