Im putting together a new computer, I have 2 new 200 gig SATA HDs. When I goto BIOs It doesnt detect them. I have an ASUS K8N-E Deluxe.
Thanks

Is the sata controller enabled? Drives have power and data cables in snug? My guess would be a little thing like that.

I Have 6 SATA slots on my mobo, I didnt think they had to be enabled. Do I Hafta get drivers or somthing?

If your motherboard's main BIOS did not detect your SATA drives, then you've most likely connected your drives to some of the four SATA ports that are connected to the Silicon Image Si3114 controller. That's because the nForce3 250 chipset natively supports only two SATA ports, and thus Asus also included an Si3114 controller which provides four additional SATA ports. If that is the case, you will need to find a way to get the drivers from the CD-ROM onto a floppy disk before you can install Windows 2000 or XP onto the SATA drive(s).

Ok, I made the disk, how do i install it?
Just run Windows XP or 2000 Setup, and then when it asks you to press the F6 key to install third-party SCSI/RAID drivers, press the F6 key. Then, when Windows Setup starts copying files, Windows Setup will ask you to put in the driver disk. And once you put in the floppy, and the system reads it, there will be multiple choices for SATA drivers. Choose the one marked "Silicon Image Si3114 Serial ATA RAID driver for Windows ####" (where #### stands for your applicable version of Microsoft Windows - XP is for Windows XP, 2000 is for Windows 2000). The applicable files will now be copied from that floppy onto your hard drive.

I got the floppy disk and installed the drivers for the controller, I also installed the drivers for the WD HDs. I hit F6 at the prompt but it still wont recognize the HDs. I got a IDE 13.6 gig I can run off windows. Is there a way I can install the controller from windows?
