Not certain if hard drive will fit in my laptop...

I'm thinking about getting a new hard drive for my laptop, but I'm not certain it will fit. I have an Asus M51S (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220308) and it needs to last me another couple years, so I'm looking to get a drive as large as possible. I measured the hdd bay and its only about 7mm high, so the 12.5mm 1tb drives definitely won't fit. I was looking at some of the 750gb drives and some said they were 9.5mm high while others said they were "standard 2.5" form factor." Does this mean they will fit? Or is it commonplace that 750gb drives are all 9.5mm?

I'm looking at

specifically, though I'm open to suggestions. It doesn't say if it is 9.5mm or not, and I haven't been able to find anything out about it. If anyone knows about this kind of thing, that would be really helpful.

Update: Yes it is 9.5mm just in case anybody is wondering. It seems that all other 750gb drives are also 9.5mm, so I'm going to start going down the list until I find something around 6.5mm.

I would be surprised if a laptop that size only accepted 7mm thick drives. They're normally reserved for ultraportables. Why don't you actually pull the drive out and measure it instead. If you are in fact limited to 7mm in height, Hitachi makes a 500gb one that is that size and I believe it is the largest available in that form factor.

While not a direct answer, a quick google search shows this website listing replacement hard drives for the M51S[e,n,r] series:

I'd try checking your owners manual for replacing the hard drive information, or worst case actually call Asus (oh no!). However, based off that that websites information, I'd say it's probably fairly safe to assume that a standard 9.5mm hdd will work.

I measured the drive and it is 6.5mm. I've got a friend with a spare 500gb 2.5" hdd that I'm sure is 9.5mm. When he gets back I'll ask him if I can test it out. In the meantime I'll do some digging into the manual and maybe call Asus if that doesn't lead anywhere, thanks for help.
