I just bought a new Vostro and it only seems to be detecting 1 other laptop on ym network. It doesnt seem to want to detect my other 4 computers running on my network. Would you guys happen to have any ideas?

do all of your computers share the same workgroup name?

all computers on the same subnet and network?

Do all the computers have print and file sharing?

What operating system are you running on these machines? If its XP Home or Pro then I would suggest running the network setup wizard and enable file/printer sharing on each and join each to the same workgroup. This will open ports in the windows firewall to allow for network discovery of each other.

If you are running other stuff then I would imagine its a firewall preventing the network discovery.

Thanks to all and sorry for late response, but the problem has been fixed :) It was a conflict in firewalls.

That is why I recommend that no one ever run any type of firewall or router on their network. Just straight Publicly routable IPs across the network. :D
