So, I've been successfully running my 4400+ with the diskless client for the last week and all has been well, until now.

I had been having problems with the client hanging once it completed a work unit... just hanging completely, but as I said, it's been fine for the last week. Anyhow, I got up this morning and checked all my boxen, and all seemed fine. I checked my stats, and something seemed off, and the problem seems to be this.......



It's folding away on the new unit just fine, but I'm curious as to rather any of you have seen this in the past? I have never had this happen before and I'm wondering if this is a common problem or perhaps something that has to do specifically with the diskless client?

At any rate, I will be ordering one of these this morning thanks to the $25.00 Newegg gift card I won in the drawing last week (thanks again:)) and once it arrives I think I'll be installing Ubuntu and running it that way.....but any thoughts would be appreciated!!

 
That happen to me a couple of weeks ago on one of my boxen and it is using Windows XP Pro so I don't think it's the diskless client...probably just the F@H server getting hamered with completed work units
 
Yeah, sometime they are too busy or just down. As long as the deadline isn't triggered yet, you should be fine but you can also force a upload by typing fah -send all.
 
One of the SMP servers went sometime around 4:00 GMT.
The spare work server came online ok so work was beening sent out but the collection server failed to come up, hence the work being queued.
I was up to 8 SMP workunits waiting to to upload but I'm now backdown to 3.
The client tries to upload work every 6 hours so unless the deadlines are tight, your best to just let it run.

Alright, I'll let it be, there's plenty of time left before the deadline.. thanks for the replies. One question though.. .you mention that it should attempt to send work every three hours, but it's been over six hours since it last attempted to send the work in. I would try and force it to send, but this is a headless machine and to be honest, I don't know how to get into the client to do so....

Its every 6 hours it trys to upload..
