I'm trying to install this remote control software on my friend's Dell Axim X5. I put the install file on a CF card, put the card in the PDA, navigated to it, and opened the .exe. Whenever I do that, however, I get a message saying

Dell Axim X5 said:
TR2setup.exe is not a valid Pocket PC application.

It should work, because the software was recommended to me by an X5 user!! I've tried moving the .exe from the CF card to the PDA's onboard memory and it still doesn't work.

Is there something I'm missing? I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to PDAs. Help. :(

Edit: ohhh...I feel stupid..further investigation shows that, apparently, I'm supposed to connect the PDA to the computer and install from the computer. what a n00b I am, what a n00b...

Generally if you get software to be installed directly on the PPC it will be in .CAB format. Most things have an EXE that gets installed through ActiveSync.

Okay, thanks. I just assumed that since the software was designed for the PDA, it should be installed on the PDA.

 I'm not the only one who did this now!

Besides, we all have to start somewhere.
