I'm using Norton Antivirus 2004 and I'm having problem accessing cd-roms. When I try to double click a cd-rom drive with a cd in it the explorer gives me this error:

"Disk is not formatted
Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible."

When I uninstall Norton the problem goes away but I want to use it. Can you give me any suggestions about solving this?

Strange indeed.

This is a long shot, but try disabling the "Scan within compressed files" option. If nothing else, I've noticed this will slow your machine down quite a bit if you are accessing a folder/disk that contains more than a few compressed files, which most CD's should.

Thanks for the reply. This one seems to be a rare bug, I've searched the net and find only a few pages about this. Diabling auto-protect prevents this problem but then what's the reason of using antivirus software. I think I'm gonna try Kaspersky Antivirus.
